Apple Safari takes more resources compared to Opera and Firefox. sometimes it also freezes so i would still stick to Opera.

  • Paul,
Apple has just announced its new OS (Snow Leopard coming out Friday), which includes a complete Finder rebuild for 64-bit performance with all Apple Apps. With Snow Leopard, Safari 4 delivers up to 50 percent faster JavaScript performance thanks to its 64-bit support. In addition, Safari is even more resistant to crashes. It turns out that the number one cause of crashes in Mac OS X is browser plug-ins. So Apple engineers redesigned Safari to make plug-ins run separately. If a plug-in crashes on a web page, Safari will keep running. Safari 4 in Snow Leopard outraces all other browsers. On even the most demanding Web 2.0 applications, Safari delivers blazingly fast performance using the new Nitro Engine. For example, thanks to 64-bit technology in Snow Leopard, JavaScript performance in Safari 4 is up to 50 percent faster than the 32-bit version of Safari. In addition, Safari offers top-flight HTML performance — the best on any platform — loading pages up to 3 times faster than Internet Explorer 8 and almost 3 times faster than Firefox 3.5. What does all that mean for you? Less time loading pages and more time enjoying them Check out: http://www.apple.com/macosx/what-is-macosx/safari.html

  • Safari 4 is a bit slow compared to either Opera and Firefox. but i like the interface and graphics of Safari 4, it is cool though.

    • Stats per Apple:

Now, In my personal opinion and testing, it comes down to speed and compatibility (and also what the browser can do) its Safari and Firefox. My personal favorite is Safari (not only speed & compatibility) but the ability to sync my Safari bookmarks between multi computers and my iPhone, via mobile me. I also like Firefox too, great plug-ins and add ons. Great compatibility and speed. What I tell clients with the ever changing and evolving internet (not including no real standardization) stick with Safari and Firefox, and decide for them-selfs. It will be very interesting when Google -Chrome makes it way to the Mac.
