Apple macmyday warning iconALERT: Beware of Mac Defender!

BEWARE of Mac Defender, this is not a virus, but a Mac Malware (malicious software). It runs a fake Windows virus scan animation and announces that your computer is infected. It then runs a real Mac installation program and asks for your administrator password. Once installed, it makes your computer act like it really is infected, opening offensive websites and generally misbehaving. It offers you 1-year, 2-year or lifetime protection. If you buy the protection, it steals your credit card number.

Prevention:

1. Do not download any programs unless they come from a trusted site or contact your MacMyDay service tech.

2. Never enter your credit card information on a site unless you know the site is secured and can be trusted.

3. Never give your computer password, social security number or credit card information.

4. Uncheck “open” safe files after downloading” in Safari Preferences (under general).

If you see any suspicious software or alerts, or if you have downloaded Mac Defender, it can removed by your MacMyDay Tech, call immediately!
